CM Voter Center on Selection of Tim Walz for Vice President & Peggy Flanagan’s Potential Governorship
St. Paul, MN – In response to this morning’s announcement of Tim Walz as the Vice Presidential running mate of current Vice President and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and the implications for Minnesota’s Governor’s office, Conservation Minnesota Voter Center issued the following statement from Executive Director Paul Austin:
“Congratulations to Governor Walz on his selection.
The Walz administration has done more to address climate change than any other Governor in state history, securing landmark legislative victories to improve the air we breathe and the water we drink. Governor Walz’s unwavering work to protect our Great Outdoors will fit well with the Harris campaign, as its policy and actions reflect a commitment to protect people from the impacts of climate change.
With Governor Walz's potential elevation to Vice President of the United States, Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan would make state history herself by becoming the first woman and Native American to hold the office. Her proven track record as a strong advocate for the people and places of Minnesota makes her well-suited to assume this role. We are excited by the prospect of working alongside her historic administration to reduce climate pollution and ensure prosperity for all who call Minnesota home.”
